Outgrown Outfit #1

Isaiah is getting too long for some of his preemie clothes...YEAH!!!!!! So I had to take a picture of them before he outgrows them completely! Sorry you don't get to see his face in this one.

I hope you had a a very merry Christmas! Sorry it has been a few days since my last post. Here is a little update: last night Isaiah weighed in 5 lbs 12.8 oz. That is just his body weight - no clothes or diaper & an empty belly. He has been eating ALOT & we believe he is going through a growth spurt. He is starting to get too long for all of his preemie clothes - but the Newborn stuff swallows him whole, but they are the right length.

But - he is 6 weeks old today! His official due date is this next Wednesday. So that means he will be starting his "developmental milestones" just like a full-term newborn. He should be about 6 1/2 weeks behind a full-term baby in his abilities & how he develops. I am so excited to see him grow. He won't be sleeping so much & he will start to recognize my voice better & start smiling at me & not just randomly! I love my little man so much! I am so thankful he is gaining weight. Soooo precious.

Josh survived a round of lay-offs at the Mary Kendall Home. Very trying times - emotionally. We knew God would provide - times like these cause you to completely rely on Him & surrender all plans, dreams, wishes...knowing God will make a way, but it just might not be our way.

Silent Night...Yeah Right!!!

Our friend Abby bought Isaiah this onesie! It is so true, too! Thought I would share. And shame on you for even thinking that thought - of course I didn't pinch my baby!

One Month Old

Isaiah is now one month old! I can't believe the time has gone by so fast! Every month I will take a picture of him with this basket to show how much he has grown. It is very difficult to take a picture of this squirmy little man!

My little man...

I just love him so much. I wanted to show you something I thought was super cool. I don't know if you saw the post I did in August. It was of the ultrasound from Aug. 4th (18.5 weeks pregnant). They did a few shots in 3-D, it is amazing how much it truly looks like Isaiah! Here is the image again. Just in case you don't see it...the box on the right is a profile shot of his face...he is looking up.

Eat & sleep

Eating and sleeping seems to be all that Isaiah does & all I have energy to do! =o) So it works out nicely. I get bursts of energy & do my best to make good use of them. But just about the time I get motivated - I feel like someone just put a sleep spell over me & I feel like I could just fall asleep standing or sitting wherever I am. Isn't he cute?

Emergency Room...

We had to take Isaiah to the emergency room on Friday night - because his body temperature was low. We are just in the habit of checking his temperature before each bath - because that is what we did everynight at the NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit) in Evansville. If his temperature isn't warm enough we don't want to undress him & get him all wet & cool him off even more. His temp was 93.5 and is supposed to be between 96 - 99. But all the tests came back normal - he just doesn't have any body fat because he is so little & can't keep himself warm. So he has to stay super bundled - not just a little bit bundled. We were so scared. I cried & cried. We didn't get home til almost 3 am Saturday morning when his temperature had reached 97.5 because he was super bundled in those nice warm hospital blankets. He is holding his temperature just fine. But they had to take blood...can you believe they tried to find a vein!? They couldn't find one so they pricked his heal & took blood there. They did 2 chest x-rays. They needed a urine sample & had to put a cathater in. But when I undressed him & took his diaper off he emptied his bladder...so when they went to do the cath they barely got anything - but they did get enough. So sad to watch. I just felt like they were picking on him & being so mean. But just keep praying for Isaiah to gain some weight. Thank you.

Isaiah is home!

Sorry it has taken me so long to post on here. I have been so exhausted! It is so wonderful to have our little man home. I am so thankful for this wonderful blessing from God. I have a lot of catching up to do...but here are a few of many pictures.

Look - he has a little roll under his chin...so cute!
He had his first doctor appointment today. He weighs 4 lbs 12 oz. That means he has gained 5 oz since Thursday when he was discharged from St. Mary's NICU. That is great - he is supposed to gain an oz per day & he is doing just that. Here are a few pictures of him in his little car seat. He is so little!!!!
Here are some pictures of daddy & Isaiah playing or sleeping.
This is a cute little gift the NICU gave us for his Thanksgiving day present!

This is a blanket the Mary Kendall Home (Josh's Employer) sent to us.
