Isaiah's 2 month check-up & shot visit

Isaiah had his 2 month old check-up & shot visit with his pediatrician last Monday. He was 20 1/2 inches long & 6 lbs 9 oz. He is starting to get some meat to him - he isn't so bony. They gave him the DTaP shot...bless his little heart. He hates shots. I asked them to space out his shot visits so he doesn't get pumped full of shots all at the same time! He goes in on the 9th of Feb. for his first Hep B shot. I feel so terrible when this happens. Oh well. I am just thankful he is gaining weight.

Ice Storm 2009

Burr!!! We had a big ice storm move through last Monday night through to Wednesday morning. We had about 1 1/2 inches of ice & about 5 inches of snow on top of that. All night Tuesday night you could hear tree branches snapping & crashing to the ground. You could see flashes of green & blue lights as transformers were hit & lines were yanked down & poles snapped. We lost our power on Tuesday night & we are still without power. With the house already down to 65 by daybreak on Wednesday morning & water coming into my basement because my sump pump can't pump water out - Josh & my dad went to Lowe's on Wednesday morning and stood in line for about 4 hours to buy a generator. Then, like everyone else in town that had bought generators - they had to hunt down gas (the lines were sooo long at the stations that had power) & the right electrical equipment to hook it up to the house. By about 4 pm on Wednesday with the temperature in my house at 56 degrees the generator fired up & my heater kicked on! WHEW! Isaiah looked like an eskimo & was all snuggled up with Mommy until the house warmed up again. We don't have enough power to power our whole house - but it keeps our heater, sump pump, freezer & fridge going. And right now I am on the computer & internet & Josh & my dad are watching T.V. We hope our power comes back on soon so I can let my sister use our generator. She has little girls & they are all huddled into the living room of her house with the gas fireplace going. We have our neighbor's furnace hooked up to our generator too so that she & her two little girls can stay warm. I will post some pictures soon.

Isn't he so cute???

2 Months Old

My baby boy turned 2 months old a week & a half ago & I am just now posting his 2 month old pictures. It has been on my "list" of things to do. But Isaiah wears me out & I do good just to keep up with the laundry these days! =o) Here are some of his 2 month old pictures.

Growing up...

Isaiah weighs 5 lbs 12 oz! That is a gain of 11 oz in 9 days!!! He cannot wear preemie diapers anymore. But he is still itty bitty for a 7 1/2 week old baby. I have a few pictures to add - but don't have time right now.

Outgrown Outfits #2 & #3

These are 2 more outfits he has grown too long to wear comfortably. But they are too cute! One more excuse for me to stick my camera in his face. Plus the pictures of these outfits will be scrapbooked & will be a part of his memory forever...instead of it just being "another shirt"!

WoW - What a day...

Today was so busy - especially for a woman who hasn't been out of the house much. My first true outing since Isaiah came home Thanksgiving day was to buy Josh's Christmas present the day before Christmas Eve. Other than that I have only left the house to go work at the church or go to the Dr's office. SAD! So - today...still no real excitement. Josh kept Isaiah at the house & I took a trip to the hospital for some blood work, a trip to the bookstore (one of my former employers) to return a key, pick up a dish & drop off a card & picture of the best looking boy in the world!!!!!! Then it was time to hurry up & come home to feed Isaiah & then I was off again. I went to the church to work for a couple of hours. I came home around 3:20 pm - fed Isaiah again & Josh went to work. Like I said...what a day. So at home, I took down the Christmas tree & decorations, worked on the church's website, my website, paid a few bills & worked on some paperwork, not to mention feeding Isaiah a few times in between. But I could hear the TV in the living room from my office while I was "busy" & I heard Kentucky win the football game! GO CATS! I am ready to CRASH! For some reason - I have to get up every 2 hours at night. I was talking to my friend the other day & commented that I should probably get some naps in while he sleeping. She agreed...but my list of things to do isn't getting any smaller so I feel too stressed to sleep - unless I just collapse. So I am getting about 3 - 6 hours of sleep every night. I need to start going to bed around 10 pm instead of when Josh goes to bed around 1:30 - 2 am. Anyway - that is a glimpse of my crazy (but not so crazy to most) day. I hope to get some pictures taken of Isaiah tomorrow. So be sure to come back now...ya hear?

Happy New Year!!!

I hope you had a wonderful 2008 & hope you have a great 2009! Wow - it is so hard to believe another year has passed. I just wonder what this year will bring us. In 2008 God blessed us in so many ways - we have a beautiful son, Josh still has his job at the Mary Kendall Home surviving layoffs, blessing us with the ability to buy a mini-van, some unexpected financial blessings & saving us from some potential financial disasters! Now that 2008 has passed - I am looking forward to whatever it is that God has in store for me this year. I just want His will to be accomplished in my life. "Resolutions" can be so hollow... having one only to say you have one & that is as far as the resolution goes. My resolution is to get closer to God. I want to be more like Jesus, to learn to love as he loves, be as forgiving as he is & as compassionate as he is. I want to be more like Jesus. So - they say not to just say you have a resolution - you need a game plan. Mine is to read my bible more and spend more time in prayer. This past fall I told a teenager in our youth group about a relationship with Jesus...."How can you know & be closer to Jesus if you never learn about Him or care to talk to Him? Relationship requires dialog & interest from both parties." That is my intent: to have a deeper relationship with Christ. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
